On the afternoon of November 26, the two-day 2nd China-Latin America Entrepreneurs Investment Development Sharing Session and Amazon Rainforest Ecological Conservation and Cooperation Exchange Conference commenced in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. Over 40 representatives from enterprises, universities, and research institutions in China and Peru gathered to explore new models for international scientific and technological cooperation. During the event, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and Peru's Amazon Carbon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost cooperation on climate change and environmental protection, as well as the sustainable development of global resources.

Directors of Amazon Carbon: Luis Alejandro Navarrete Santillan and Rafael Bardalez Ruiz; Xu Ming, Executive Director of the Jiangmen Laboratory of Carbon Science and Technology; Li Wei, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Dongguan University of Technology; and Chen Baiman, Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, attended the meeting and witnessed the signing of a MOU between the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and Amazon Carbon.

Signing a MOU

This conference was hosted by the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and co-organized by Dongguan University of Technology. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including Amazon rainforest conservation and clean energy, exploring potential for technological cooperation to advance low-carbon sustainable development. Chen Baiman stated that the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center upholds the principles of consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits to support global governance. It implements the dual carbon goals in climate protection, leveraging technological strength to promote green and low-carbon development and foster the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Navarrete highlighted that Amazon Carbon protects Amazon rainforest through innovative commercial systems that generate carbon credits, thereby contributing to addressing global climate challenges. Xu Ming presented research achievements from the Jiangmen Laboratory of Carbon Science and Technology in industrial carbon capture applications, demonstrating how technology drives high-quality agricultural development.

Participants exchanged views.

During the event, representatives from Dongguan Weisi Industrial Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Tianzhi Health Technology Co., Ltd., and Dongguan Polytechnic Education Group respectively introduced their corporate services and cooperation intentions. This facilitated smooth information exchange across multiple sectors, effectively promoting technological business matching and substantive transformation of research outcomes.

On November 27, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and Amazon Carbon held a closed-door seminar to further explore technical cooperation and carbon market development. They reached a strategic consensus on jointly establishing a high-level cooperation platform with Peruvian universities. Together, they will innovate a “tripartite synergy” mechanism featuring “center-led, university-supported, enterprise-operated” collaboration. This will create a multi-functional strategic hub integrating resource coordination, scientific innovation research, and market operation development. Simultaneously, leveraging this platform, they will extend cooperation in areas such as the establishment of scientific organizations and the development of research institutions, promoting the interconnected development of industry, academia, and research. This initiative will tangibly serve the national strategy of high-level opening-up and global cooperation.

This series of meetings represents a significant practical step by China and Latin America in strengthening global climate governance and deepening scientific, technological, and economic cooperation. It demonstrates the shared consensus of empowering green development through science and technology, injecting new momentum into advancing high-level self-reliance in science and technology and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
