Experts Attending the 16th China Youth Forum on Latin American Studies Visit the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center to Discuss Platform Development and Think Tank Construction

On the morning of May 15, the 16th China Youth Forum on Latin American Studies and the Academic Symposium on "China-Latin America Relations Under the New Situation: Opportunities and Challenges" opened in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. In order to fully pool academic wisdom and deepen the development of think tanks for China-Latin America studies, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center invited nearly ten participating experts to visit the Center after the opening ceremony. The representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as platform development, mechanism operation, and China-LAC cooperation of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, empowering the development of China-LAC cooperation with academic strength.

Among the representatives attending the exchange were Wang Yulin, former Director of the Latin American Department of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and Vice President of the Chinese Association of Latin American Studies; Dong Guohui, Director of the Center for Latin American Studies at Nankai University and Chairman of the Chinese Society for Latin American History Studies; Wu Hongying, Dean of the Institute of Regional and Country Studies at Hubei University; Wang Ping, Executive Director of the Latin American Research Institute of CLTTC (hereinafter referred to as the "Latin American Research Institute"); and Chen Baiman, Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center.

During the exchange, Chen Baiman introduced the background and cooperation achievements of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center in serving the overall diplomatic work of the country and implementing plans for scientific and technological innovation. Wang Ping shared the functional positioning and recent work progress of the Latin American Research Institute. Since its establishment, the Latin American Research Institute has focused on research into the science and technology policies of Latin American countries and the prediction of development trends, pragmatically promoting mutual development between China and Latin America in areas such as technology transfer, research collaboration, and capacity building. The attending experts fully affirmed the achievements of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and the Latin American Research Institute since their inception, and offered constructive suggestions for their future development based on their professional knowledge in their respective fields, from perspectives such as platform operation, technology transfer, and think tank construction.

In the future, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center will actively engage with cooperation forces from all sectors in China and Latin America, broadly incorporate valuable opinions that help deepen China-LAC cooperation, continuously optimize the operating mechanisms of platform vehicles such as the Latin American Research Institute, constantly connect with China-LAC innovation cooperation resources, strengthen the influence of think tank research outputs, further play its role as a national-level platform bridge, and help achieve higher-quality and higher-level development of China-LAC cooperation.
