On the morning of November 2, a delegation from the Universidad de la República visited the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center. Both parties held an communicate meeting focusing on topics such as scientific research talent cultivation in higher education institutions across China and Latin America. Attendees included Mariana Seoane, Vice President of the Universidad de la República and Dean of the School of Dentistry; Alvaro Mombrú, Dean of the School of Chemistry; and Chen Baiman, Executive Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center.

Conference Venue
The participants unanimously agreed that the international cooperation between the Universidad de la República and the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center rests on a solid foundation. Uruguay was among the first Latin American countries to join the Belt and Road Initiative and the first MERCOSUR nation to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with China on jointly advancing the Belt and Road Initiative, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with China. Since the beginning of this year, guided by the principles of equality, openness, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and the Universidad de la República have continuously deepened their collaborative exchanges. They have successfully signed a strategic cooperation agreement and an accession agreement to the China-LAC Digital Education University Alliance, achieving phased results in promoting scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation between China and Latin America.
Chen Baiman stated that smart education and talent development are crucial components of the China-LAC cooperative ecosystem. He expressed hope to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Universidad de la República, consolidate cooperative achievements, and achieve complementary advantages and shared development. Simultaneously, leveraging the China-Uruguay Technology Transfer Center, he aims to expand cooperation areas and promote the steady and far-reaching development of the China-Uruguay strategic partnership across multiple fields.

Conference Venue
Following thorough discussions, both parties will strengthen practical cooperation in areas such as youth talent exchanges, innovation and entrepreneurship training, and think tank exchanges, building upon the achievements of educational collaboration facilitated by the China-LAC Digital Education University Alliance. This meeting represents a significant step in further consolidating the cooperative bridge between the two sides and expanding the scope of collaboration. Following the meeting, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and the Universidad de la República will continue to explore potential areas of collaboration, propel the advancement of China-LAC relations, and contribute to the sustained elevation of cooperation between China and Uruguay, as well as between China and Latin America. Together, they will compose a new chapter of deeper and more robust bilateral cooperation.
